Malcolm Williamson (1931-2003)
Bio
Malcolm Benjamin Graham Christopher Williamson, AO, CBE was born in Sydney, Australia. He studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and then moved to London in his twenties. He was a prolific composer and gained significant notoriety on the Island. After the death of Arthur Bliss, he became the 19th Master of the Queen's Music, a post he held until his death in 2003. He was succeeded by Peter Maxwell Davies.
