Jaromir Weinberger (1896-1967)
Bio
Jaromir Weinberger was born to Jewish heritage in Prague, which was in the Austrian-Hungarian Empire at the time. He was prodigious and entered the Prague Conservatory at age 14. He studied under Novák in Prague and later with Reger in Leipzig. He briefly taught in the US at Cornell before returning to his homeland and becoming a successful composer. He fled the Nazis and settled in the United States, naturalizing in 1948.
