Steve Reich (b. 1936)
Bio
Stephen Michael Reich was born in New York City. Reich studied Philosophy at Cornell University and then at Juilliard and Mills College. He was contemporaries with Berio and Milhaud at Mills. His work is typically described as minimalist and he has been described as one of a "handful of living composers who can legitimately claim to have altered the direction of musical history."
