Edmund Rubbra (1901-1986)


Bio

Charles Edmund Rubbra was born in Northhampton. He studied at University College and worked closely with William Alwyn while being taught by Cyril Scott and Gustav Holst. He served during World War II and then took a position teaching at Oxford. He composed a number of Symphonies and other works with a tendency towards a melodic style.
