Roger Sessions (1896-1985)
Bio
Roger Huntington Sessions was born in Brooklyn. He studied at Harvard for his undergrad and at Yale for advanced study with Horatio Parker and Ernest Bloch. He held several teaching posts at Smith College, Princeton, Cal-Berkeley, Harvard, and the Juilliard School. He was friends with Schoenberg and his composition style evolved from neoclassicism into atonality and serialism.
