Niko Skalkottas (1904-1949)
Bio
Nickolaos Skalkottas was born on the Greek island of Euboea. He studied at the Athens Conservatory, then traveled to Germany and entered the Prussian Academy of Arts. His contemporaries rejected him, and very little of his music was performed during his short life. He passed at age 45 due to a ruptured hernia.
