Elliott Carter (1908-2012)


Bio

Carter studied at Harvard with Edward B Hill, Gustav Holst, and Walter Piston before traveling to Paris to study with Nadia Boulanger. He was a well-respected representative of "ultra-modernism" and neoclassical composing. He was extremely prolific in his later years producing 60 pieces after the age of 90, 20 of which were written after his 100th birthday.
