Marc-Antoine Charpentier (c1645-1704)


Bio

The earlier Charpentier studied under Carissimi in Rome and then worked for the Duchesse de Guise. By his thirties, he was directly working for the Grand Dauphin of France and was the composer in the principal Jesuit church in Paris. He is considered the French Baroque master and is responsible for one of the best-preserved and largest musical catalogs in history.
