Edvard Grieg (1843-1907)
Bio
Grieg was born in Bergen, Norway. His mother taught him piano and then he studied at the Leipzig Conservatory. His composing brought him notoriety throughout northern Europe and he met and collaborated with Hartmann, Gade, Nordraak, Liszt, Tchaikovsky, Grainger, and Bjørnson. Grieg led the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and represents the pinnacle of Scandinavian romanticism.
