Percy Grainger (1882-1961)
Bio
Percy Grainger was born in Brighton, Australia. He moved to Frankfurt to study at the Hoch Conservatory accompanied by his mother Rose who began to teach there. He moved to the United States, joined the Army for World War I, and took American citizenship after the war. He traveled as a pianist playing his compositions and a full repertoire. He had a fascination with Nordic culture and befriended Grieg and Delius in his travels.
