Elisabeth Lutyens (1906-1983)


Bio

Agnes Elisabeth Lutyens was born in London. Lutyens studied at the École Normale de Musique in Paris with a friend who had trained with Nadia Boulanger. She also studied at the Royal College of Music in London under Harold Darke. She has the distinction as the first British female composer to score a film and was known as the Horror Queen for her soundtracks.
